Privacy Policy for Monster Sleep Machine

Welcome to Monster Sleep Machine! We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the Monster Sleep Machine mobile and web application (the "App").

Our App is designed to be simple and fun. We have built it with your privacy in mind, collecting the absolute minimum information necessary to provide and improve your experience.

We want to be crystal clear about the information we do not collect. The Monster Sleep Machine app does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use its core features.

Specifically, we do not collect, store, or have access to:

  • Payment Information: We do not collect or store credit card numbers or other payment details. All transactions are processed securely by the respective app stores (see Section 5).
  • User Accounts: The app does not have a login, registration, or user profile feature.
  • Contacts, Photos, or Files: The app does not access your device's contacts, photo library, or other personal files.
  • Precise Location Data (except as described in Section 2 for casting functionality): We do not track your specific geographic location for any purpose other than enabling the Google Cast feature as detailed below.

2. Information We Collect

To help our app function and to understand how it is being used, we collect a limited amount of non-personal, anonymous data. This information cannot be used to identify you.

This data includes:

  • Usage Data: We collect anonymous information about your interactions with the App, such as which sounds are played most often and the average length of a session. This helps us understand which features are popular so we can improve the App.
  • Device and App Information: We may collect anonymous technical information, such as the type of device you are using (e.g., iPhone 15, Google Pixel), the operating system version (e.g., iOS 18, Android 15), and app crash reports. This data is essential for troubleshooting bugs and ensuring the App is stable.
  • Local Wi-Fi IP Address (for Google Cast functionality): To enable the Google Cast feature, the app accesses your device's local Wi-Fi IP address. On modern Android versions (Android 10 and above), this requires the "precise location" permission (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) from the user at runtime. This information is used solely to facilitate the connection to Google Cast devices on your local network and is not stored or used for tracking your location.

3. How We Use Your Information

The anonymous information we collect is used solely for the following purposes:

  • To Provide and Maintain the App: To ensure the core functionality, like playing sounds and setting timers, works correctly.
  • To Improve the App: To analyze usage trends and user engagement (our "Success Metrics") in order to make Monster Sleep Machine better.
  • To Ensure Stability: To identify and fix bugs, crashes, and other technical issues.

4. Advertising

The free version of the Monster Sleep Machine app may display advertisements. These ads are delivered by our third-party advertising partners. To make these ads relevant, our partners may collect anonymous information, such as your device's advertising identifier. This information is used to show you ads that are more likely to be of interest to you. It is not used to personally identify you.

You can typically opt out of personalized advertising through your device's settings. Purchasing the premium version of the App via an in-app purchase will remove all advertising.

5. In-App Purchases

While the basic version of our App is free, we may offer additional content or features for purchase within the App ("In-App Purchases"). All In-App Purchases are processed securely through the platform on which you downloaded the App (e.g., the Apple App Store or Google Play Store).

We do not collect or have access to any of your payment information. This information is collected and managed directly by the app store, and your purchase is subject to their respective privacy policies and terms of service.

6. Other Third-Party Services

Google Cast (Chromecast): The App includes a feature that allows you to stream audio to Google Cast-enabled devices. When you use this feature, your device will connect directly to the Google Cast device over your local Wi-Fi network. To achieve this, the app accesses your device's local Wi-Fi IP address. On Android 10 and above, this requires the "precise location" permission (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) to be granted by the user. We do not collect any information about the devices you cast to, nor do we store your local Wi-Fi IP address. Your use of Google Cast is subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

7. Children's Privacy

We recognize the importance of protecting the privacy of children. The Monster Sleep Machine app is designed for a general audience, including children.

We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or the relevant age of consent in your country). We take measures to ensure that any advertising shown in the app is appropriate for a general audience. We do not permit interest-based advertising to be shown to users who are known to be children. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
